A Nationwide Commitment: Pilots Urged to Join the 2025 National Pause for GA Safety

August 4,2025

In an unprecedented show of unity and dedication to safety, AOPA, alongside several leading general aviation (GA) organizations including the King Air community, has issued a national call to action: the 2025 National Pause for GA Safety. This industry-wide initiative urges every general aviation pilot in the U.S., from taildraggers to turboprops, to take just a few minutes for focused safety awareness and education.

The message is simple, yet powerful: Pause. Reflect. Recommit.

Why a National Pause?

The inspiration for the National Pause comes from a simple truth: even the most experienced aviators, including King Air captains who’ve logged thousands of hours, can fall into routines. Complacency can sneak in, and when you’re cruising at FL270 or maneuvering into a tight strip, details matter.

Whether you're flying a C90 on a medevac mission, a B200 for corporate charter, or a 350 out of a busy Class C airport, King Air pilots know that safety isn’t optional, it’s foundational. And this national moment is a chance to refresh that foundation.

What’s Required? Just 3 Simple Steps

Participation is easy and tailored for all types of flying—including turbine operations like the King Air.

  1. Choose your flying profile. Turboprop operations are included in this initiative, if your aircraft has a PT6 under the cowling, this was made with you in mind. Select the type of flying that best reflects your missions, whether that's business transport, freight runs, or pilot service ops.

  2. Review a King Air-relevant safety resource. AOPA and partners have curated turbine-friendly content covering topics like engine management, flight into IMC, high-altitude physiology, runway excursions, and decision-making under pressure. These aren’t generic tips, they’re real-world refreshers for multi-engine ops.

  3. Take the GA Safety Quiz. The 15-question quiz includes situational judgment and risk assessment tailored to general aviation pilots, including those flying aircraft with complex systems and higher performance like the King Air. Pass the quiz and earn FAA WINGS credit.

Why King Air Pilots Should Lead the Way

King Air pilots represent some of the most versatile professionals in general aviation—flying in weather, into remote strips, at high altitudes, and often under demanding schedules. This campaign is a perfect fit for the King Air community’s reputation for professionalism and precision.

Let’s make it known: the King Air community puts safety first—always.

We encourage every King Air pilot to:

  • Take the quiz

  • Share your results

  • Tag your King Air squadron

  • Talk about your personal approach to safe turbine ops

Let’s flood the feed with turboprop pride and show GA that when it comes to best practices, King Air leads from the front.

What You’ll Gain

Taking a moment to pause may seem small, but the benefits ripple across every King Air flight deck:

  • Reinforce critical turbine-specific procedures

  • Refresh knowledge around risk mitigation

  • Reflect on recent flight decisions

  • Participate in an industry-wide safety culture

  • Earn WINGS credit toward your next review or renewal

Plus, it’s a perfect opportunity to swap insights with fellow King Air pilots. Whether you're flying single-pilot freight or crewing corporate missions, there’s always room to grow.

The Bigger Picture

With thousands of GA pilots participating, the National Pause has the potential to reduce accidents, improve decision-making, and foster a safety mindset that stretches from the ramp to cruise altitude.

For King Air Nation, it’s also a chance to demonstrate that the most respected name in turboprops comes with a mindset to match.

A Call to All King Air Cockpits

To every King Air pilot out there—from fresh-minted right-seat flyers to seasoned left-seat captains—this is your cue:

Take the pause. Lead the way.
Let’s elevate turbine standards and show the rest of GA how it’s done.

Final Thoughts

It only takes a few minutes. But those few minutes could mean the difference between a routine flight and a preventable emergency. This is your moment to press pause—not the engine start.

Join thousands of pilots—and a whole fleet of King Air crews—who are choosing to fly smarter and safer in 2025.

Fly safe. Fly sharp. Fly King Air.
