Aviation Fabricators (AvFab), based in Clinton, MO, announced the release of their STC approved “Clear View Headrest” kit, which is available for all Beechcraft King Air models.
AvFab is a FAA-PMA facility that specializes in the design, production and certified repair of interior products for the cabin class business aircraft with a special focus on the King Air.
The Clear View Headrest kit is available with “wings” or as a “hidden” headrest and will upgrade the look of the aircraft by opening up the cabin, making it feel larger, and improving the line of sight for those on board.
The “hidden” version of the headrest will give your aircraft the newer, modern look seen in the Beechcraft King Air C90GT’s, 250’s, and 350i’s. The “winged” version will not only modernize the cabin, but many operators report the installation provides improved comfort when the seat is reclined for resting. Since the “Clear View Headrest” is already STC approved, no further FAA approval is necessary.
The installation process requires no seat back structure modification and does not affect the weight of the aircraft. However, the installation must be done while seats are being upholstered, as the seat back foam must be modified to accommodate the new style headrest. The installation process is as easy as 1-2-3:
- The old style “plug-in” headrest, which rests on top of the seat back, is removed.
- Seat foam is formed to fit the headrest during the foam build-up and seat upholstery process. (Most completion centers are familiar with this process due to the prominence of this type of headrest in new aircraft).
- New “Clear View Headrest” is slid into the existing receptacles and over the newly formed seat foam.
The “Clear Vision Headrests” are in high demand, but AvFab is committed to keeping the kits in stock, AvFab also offers a “Clear View Headrest” display that can be sent to any completion center at no charge, to educate customers and demonstrate the installation process. You can visit the AvFab website to learn more about the Clear View Headrest.
