Blackhawk Modifications Details New King Air 350 XP67A Engine+ Upgrade

While attending EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 last week, we took a moment to speak with Bob Kromer, Blackhawk Modifications Senior Vice President of Engineering. Kromer detailed the company’s new XP67A Engine+ Upgrade for the King Air 350.

The mod takes out the stock PT6A-60A engine and replaces it with the PT6A-67A engine.

“This engine is capable of much more performance and much more power than the stock engine,” noted Kromer.

Kromer emphasized two benefits: power and speed. The engine allows you to carry power to a much higher altitude for much improved climb performance feet above 15,000 feet to 35,000 feet.
As for speed, Blackhawk is measuring 340 knots true air speed from the modded King Air 350 at FL 350.

It joins King Air 90 and King Air 200 which also have engine upgrades from Blackhawk.

“Remember, we’re about more power at altitude and better cruise speed, better climb performance, …and better fuel economy for a given trip,” concluded Kromer.
