Garmin Continues To Increase Capability for G1000-Equipped King Air Series

New Upgrades to King Air C90, Platinum Plus Package for 200/300 Series

Garmin just announced new capabilities and enhanced operational benefits for King Air C90 aircraft. In addition, the new Platinum Plus upgrade package for the King Air 200/300 series is available! This provides substantial savings on several of the most popular G1000 options. The new King Air C90 upgrade offers a number of new features and optional equipment upgrades to meet the demands of owners and operators around the world. This upgrade includes NextGen components such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) compliance, user-defined holding patterns and the approval of optional equipment, which expands the global operational capability.

Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing, said,

“We continue to make a series of investments to ensure King Air pilots have access to state of the art equipment and features on new and existing G1000-platforms, which substantially decreases cost of ownership of the aircraft. These key upgrades minimize pilot workload, improve situational awareness and greatly expand the operational benefits of these aircraft, giving owners and operators compelling reasons to upgrade to the G1000 Integrated Flight Deck.”

NextGen-Ready

New enhancements offer owners and operators the opportunity to prepare for the demands brought on by NextGen, ensuring that industry requirements are met while expanding operating capabilities to allow greater flexibility and improved situational awareness. These new features include:

  • Barometric Vertical Navigation (Baro-VNAV) approach capability
  • ADS-B Out Compliance
  • Area Navigation (RNAV) capability that includes the ability to fly procedures with Radius-to-Fix (RF) segments

User-Defined Holds

Pilots now have the flexibility to quickly build user-defined holding patterns. These holds may be created over an existing fix in the navigation database or over a user-defined waypoint. Unpublished holds or those assigned by air traffic control are easily created and displayed on the multi-function display (MFD), further simplifying the process of flying a holding pattern.

Search and Rescue Options

Operators conducting SAR missions may easily generate flight plans within the G1000 system for three different search patterns: Parallel Track, Expanding Square and Sector Search patterns. SAR, which is available as an option, aids in crew situational awareness by simplifying the process of entering and managing search patterns.

Industry-Leading Solid State Radar

The GWX™ 70 encompasses exceptional range and adjustable scanning profiles with precision target definition for accurate, real-time weather analysis in the cockpit. Pilot-adjustable horizontal scan angles of up to 120˚ allows for precise scanning along a route of flight, while vertical scanning enables pilots to interpret storm tops, gradients and storm cell development at various altitudes. The digital GWX 70 offers significant improvements in capability, reliability and cost of ownership.

Access More Airports, Remote Locations

The optional GRS 7800 Attitude Heading and Reference System (AHRS) enables free-gyro mode, greatly expanding the authorized area of operation up to North 84 degrees latitude. With the GRS 7800, operators increase their global operational capabilities and have access to more remote locations throughout the world.

Platinum Plus NBAA Promotion for King Air 200/300 Operators

The King Air Platinum Plus Package expands upon the existing Platinum Package to include a number of upgrades and optional features. King Air owners who place an order for the retrofit G1000 Integrated Flight Deck by January 24, 2015, may take advantage of substantial savings on the most popular G1000 options, including Garmin’s Electronic Stability and Protection (Garmin ESP™) system. In addition to safety-enhancing Garmin ESP, the Platinum Plus Package also includes additional G1000 options such as, Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT™) and Garmin ChartView™.  The electronic monitoring and exceedance-correcting technology offered by Garmin ESP works to assist the pilot to ensure the aircraft maintains a safe, flight-stable condition. Garmin ESP functions independently from the aircraft’s autopilot while the pilot is hand-flying the aircraft, providing gentle control inputs back towards stable flight whenever pitch, roll or high-speed deviations exceed the recommended limits.  This SVT and ChartView King Air Platinum Plus NBAA promotion is available for $29,995.

For current King Air owners and operators, the latest software is anticipated to be available later this year from select Garmin Authorized Dealers as a free upgrade (installation charges may apply). This upgrade is further extended to include support for three-bladed propeller King Air C90 aircraft. Owners and operators may contact a Garmin Authorized Dealer for pricing information. Visit Garmin at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention & Exhibition in Orlando, FL, October 21-23, 2014 to discuss King Air G1000 upgrades.
