New Pratt & Whitney Engine Rebate for Blackhawk XP Upgraded King Air 90 Series

Until November 13, 2015, Pratt & Whitney is offering a $45,000 New Engine Rebate upon the purchase of a Blackhawk XP New Engine Upgrade for the King Air 90. Pratt & Whitney extended the rebate offer to King Air 90 Series after the success of the King Air 200 Rebate Program. Additionally, Caravan, Cheyenne, and Conquest aircraft can receive a rebate.

The rebate amount differs on the engine upgrade/aircraft model:

King Air 90, Cheyenne and Conquest
– Blackhawk XP135A – $45,000 USD rebate ($22,500.00 USD per engine)

Caravan
– Blackhawk XP140 – $30,000 USD rebate
– Blackhawk XP42A – $30,000 USD rebate

Blackhawk has an STC to install the PT6A-135A engines on the King Air C90, C90A, C90B, E90 and F90 series. There are over 250+ King Air 90’s flying with the Blackhawk XP135A upgrade to date. The company attributes the program’s success due to the beneficial price point to performance ratio. Blackhawk noted that a typical C90 operator will climb to higher cruise altitudes much faster due to the upgrade’s advantage of lower fuel flows and a 30 + Knot speed increase. Additionally, an XP135A powered King Air pulls full power for takeoff in high density altitude situations and can easily climb above inclement weather. This allows operators better flexibility and safety levels.

“Because of the proven performance and ROI rewards the XP135A program offers, we will continue to see new engine upgrades sweep across the global King Air fleet,” said Edwin Black, Vice President of Domestic Sales at Blackhawk Modifications. “Generous core engine credit for time remaining to the 3600 hour TBO will still be issued, which makes this an opportunistic time to bring your King Air up to speed.”

Core engine exchange conditions include that they must have been operated in a commercial (non-military) environment and that they will be accepted as long as they were not removed for unscheduled reasons. Blackhawk asks that they be contacted if the core exchange engine does not meet those conditions.

Applicability applies to Operators upgrading P&WC aircraft engines through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) under the P&WC Converter Enhancement Program (CEP) for the following:

  • Engine upgrade to PT6A-135A engines from PT6A-11, -20, -20A, -21, -28, -35, -112, -135 (Beechcraft King Air 90, Piper Cheyenne, Cessna Conquest airframes);
  • Engine upgrade to PT6A-42A or PT6A-140 engine from PT6A-114 or PT6A-114A (Cessna Caravan airframe).
  • Operators purchasing new PT6A-135A / PT6A-42A / PT6A-140 engines under the P&WC Fleet Enhancement Program (FEP)
  • Completion of any of the transactions mentioned above, including engine paid in full no later than November 13, 2015 and installed no later than December 31, 2015.

Blackhawk has no extra charges for typical corrosion, sulphidation, expired life limited parts, non-genuine P&WC parts. Addtionally, no extra charges are applied for foreign object damage (FOD) as long as FOD did not cause an unscheduled removal.
