Over Three Decades of Golfing Tradition

Last month, Stevens Aviation in Nashville, Tennessee, held their 32nd Annual Golf Classic at the Windtree Golf course in Mt. Juliet. Golf events are of course a common event in the aviation industry for many companies and customers to connect but this “classic” lives true to its name.

32nd Annual Stevens Aviation Golf Classic attendance was terrific

The history of the Stevens Aviation hangar is remarkable. Located at the Nashville International Airport, it is the oldest standing hangar on the airport property, which was built in 1937 for the Army Aircorp. Stevens started their operation in Nashville in this historic hangar in 1982, and so did the golf tournament.

Beautiful day at Stevens Aviation Golf Classic - KingAirNationThe event first started to get the word out about Stevens Aviation being on the airport but they were also looking to get the community together to know each other and learn of Stevens services. “We consistently have between 70 to 100 attendees and players each year,” said Stevens Aviation BNA General Manager, Randy Smith. “It’s always a perfect day to relax, have fun and hang out with our friends and customers.” Smith also mentioned that even with the economy over the years, the event has never really been affected by sponsorships or the player count.

To improve this 76-year-old hangar, Stevens just completed some of their schedule improvements including painting the interior of the hangar and diamond polishing the floor to a smooth high gloss surface. “This drastically improves the cosmetics and working environment of the hangar,” Smith says. Stevens Aviation, Inc. has also recently hired Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Tom Grunbeck. “Tom has hit the ground running and has already had sales meetings with all technical salesman and general managers at our corporate headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina. Good things are in store in this area for our company,” – Smith comments.

Stevens Aviation Annual Golf Classic - A Longstanding Tradition

Smith says the Nashville location is having a really good year. They’ve completed 3 Garmin G1000 upgrade installs and expect to deliver two additional aircraft before the years end. In 2013, they have had over 220 different N-numbers in their hangar and are currently tracking maintenance statuses on over 85 KingAir’s in the southeast.
