Raisbeck’s Swept Blade Propellers for King Air 350 Get Australian CASA Approval

Raisbeck Engineering announced in a recent press release that the FAA STC for Raisbeck Engineering’s Swept Blade Turbofan Propellers for the King Air 350 has been accepted by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The request for the Acceptance was submitted to the CASA February 9, 2016; the official Letter of Acceptance was signed March 11, 2016.

“The Civilian Aviation Safety Authority’s acceptance of the FAA STC enables Australian 350 operators to upgrade their aircraft with the powerful yet quiet Raisbeck Swept Blade Propellers,” said Bill Lally, Vice President of Customer Support. Lally manages Raisbeck’s global certification program. “Our Authorized Dealers in Australia are now able to serve the needs of the large 350 fleet based on that continent.”

The King Air 350 Swept Blade Propellers STC approval joins the King Air 200 Series and 90 Series which had been approved shortly after introduction in Australia (also certified by EASA, the European Aviation Safety Agency).

Raisbeck designed the Swept Blade Propellers with an larger diameter to increase thrust and reduce in-flight cabin noise levels. Takeoff acceleration, single-engine climb, twin-engine climb to altitude and landing performance are all improved and noticeable to the pilot. Raisbeck also notes there is no floating tendency during landing flare-out.

Raisbeck Propellers has delivered over 60 sets to Australia. One of the major clients is Royal Flying Doctor Service, along with several other Australian King Air fleet operators and other private aircraft owners.

James Raisbeck, CEO and Founder of Raisbeck Engineering, said, “Receiving official validation from the CASA for the new Swept Blade Propellers represents another key step in Raisbeck’s goal to certify our Performance Systems around the world.”

The propellers are manufactured by Hartzell Propeller. Constructed of aluminum, the four-blade props can be maintained and overhauled by virtually every prop shop around the world using well-known techniques and procedures.
