Vector Aerospace, an independent MRO based in Canada, announced this week the 25th anniversary of their Summerside, Prince Edward Island (PEI) facility. The location has been providing MRO services since 1991.
“We have achieved this milestone through the hard work and dedication of our employees and our culture of customer service that exists throughout the entire organization,” said Jeff Poirier, President of Vector’s Engine Services – Atlantic division. “Our goal in the next 25 years is to stay in the forefront of the industry by providing our customers with high quality MRO services. Throughout 2016, we will be taking a look at where we started, what we have achieved and what our plans are for the future.”
Vector is an authorized Pratt & Whitney Canada distributor as well as a designated overhaul facility for the PT6A, JT15D, and PW100 engine series.
“Providing complete customer service remains our number one priority at Vector Aerospace,” adds Poirier. “We look forward to continuing to grow our presence globally through our Summerside facility over the coming years, further building on the relationships with our valued customers around the world.”
In 1991, the City of Summerside lost an integral part of its community with the closure of Canadian Forces Base Summerside in Slemon Park. At the same time, a Newfoundland and Labrador airline – Air Atlantic – was looking for a place to service its engines. A perfect storm of opportunity, location and convenience opened the door for Atlantic Turbines Inc. (ATI) to step into the newly formed industrial park. From this Vector Aerospace Engine Services – Atlantic was born.
Vector began in 1991 with four employees. Today, the Summerside facility employs over 445 staff and is PEI’s largest aerospace company. Vector operates a 140,000-square-foot facility in Slemon Park, complemented by fly-in capabilities and convenient hangar space.
In addition to its main location in Slemon Park, Vector’s Engine Services – Atlantic division also has a service center in Calgary, Alberta, as well as service centers in the United States, South Africa, Kenya, Australia and Singapore.
“Vector’s employees are among the industry’s most skilled, knowledgeable and highly trained, employing enterprise-wide lean best practices that allow them to expedite repair and overhaul of customers’ engines,” noted the celebration announcement. “The company’s reputation for attention to detail, finished quality and on-time delivery has earned Vector a fiercely loyal base of customers throughout the world.”
Earlier this year, the Summerside facility was named as one of the “Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada” by Progress Magazine and Best Companies Group, earning the distinction for the second year in a row. It has generated significant revenue for the local economy through its workforce and supply chain. Additionally, the company works closely with local higher education establishments, including Holland College and the University of Prince Edward Island.
Vector Aerospace’s Summerside facility is located at 800 Aerospace Boulevard, Hangar 8, Slemon Park, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
