FUEL FLOW TRANSMITTER

A fuel flow transmitter indicates an engine’s fuel use in real time. The actual mass of fuel flowing to the engine is based on an assumption of the average weight of the fuel per unit volume. The amount of fuel that is flowing through the fuel injectors has a direct relationship to the pressure drop across the fuel injector orifices. Therefore, monitoring fuel pressure at the injector(s) closely approximates fuel flow and provides useful flow information for mixture control and flight planning. Turbine-engine aircraft experience the greatest range of fuel density from temperature variation and fuel composition.
